About Me

This is the view from my little studio, which is under our house in the beautiful little town of Bridgetown in the South West of Western Australia. Talk about a ‘tree-change’. We moved here in January of 2009 and have not looked back.

After teaching English and Drama for many years, I was inspired by my daughter, (who is studying Fashion and Textile at Curtin University) to get back into sewing. My little nephew Harry (who is in most of my photos and is the perfect model) became my guinea pig and tests various clothes for fit and ease of care.

I love the creative process of finding materials, designing outfits and then seeing them being worn. I love having the freedom to mix and match, experiment with fabrics and designs and end up with something unique that no-one else has. My diddums family dolls are also unique – each one is different with its own name and can be made to order with your choice of name. Coming up with different names has been great fun – from ‘Geometric Geoff’ and ‘Fifi Flower’ to ‘Holey Harold’ and ‘Bella Bow’ – any suggestions are welcome.

With diddums designs, I have tried to stick to quality, natural fibres (I love ‘soft’ fabric) and comfortable designs. That is why I won’t put tags inside my clothes – I hate itchy scratchy tags myself so can’t imagine what they must feel like to little kids’ sensitive skins.

All clothes and dolls are designed and made by me, here in Bridgetown – so with no shop mark-ups I can sell at reasonable prices.

So – that’s me – Victoria, - wife, daughter, sister, aunty, mum to 2 great kids and excited creator of diddums kids clothes and toys. Thanks for being a part of this journey with me.
